The final day has arrived. It’s the day I run around crazy making sure I have a water sterilizer that works, enough poisonous mosquito repellent to cover a village and a San Diego keychain for every person I will meet. My mother has graciously packed me an oversized pharmacy, first aid kit and a plethora of San Diego tourist souvenirs (yes, including the pink visor).  This means my own belongings will be quite limited. I hope I at least have room for underwear.

I’m excited, nervous and a bit in shock that this is in fact happening. Tomorrow. I won’t know anything about my host family till I arrive but I’m excited to meet them. Someone somewhere in Dakar is preparing for me to arrive and that’s a fun thought.

So anyway, here is my blog. I’ve never blogged before so don’t expect much, but I’d love to keep you all updated!

I will have access to internet at the cafés in town and the SIT building where classes and lectures will be, so please do shoot me some facebook love.

For those of you who are curious, this is where I will be…

A picture of the city I stole from someone else’s blog.

    Dakar.

As for the rest…I know about as much as you do!
